LiteParse is a document parsing REST API by LlamaIndex, parses PDF, DOCX, PPTX, and images into JSON, text, or Markdown, renders page screenshots, and estimates OCR needs, fully locally with no API key or GPU required.
POST /parse returns structured per-page JSON (text, positions, fonts) by default, or plain text/Markdown with a single query parameter, no separate endpoints to learn.
POST /screenshots renders document pages as PNG images via an NDJSON stream, with control over which pages to render.
POST /is-complex estimates document complexity and whether OCR is actually needed, avoid running expensive OCR on documents that don't require it.
Parsing runs entirely on your own infrastructure, no external API key, no GPU requirement, and no document data ever leaves your deployment.
