PgDog is a PostgreSQL connection pooler, load balancer, and query router written in Rust, spreads reads across replicas and routes sharded queries, with a bundled PostgreSQL and pgAdmin console included.
PgDog can spread read queries across replicas and, on a sharded setup, route each query to the correct shard, capabilities plain connection poolers don't offer.
When the backend database offers an encrypted connection, PgDog uses it automatically, including against managed databases with self-signed certificates, with no extra configuration.
A PostgreSQL instance and pgAdmin console are included and pre-registered on first deploy, so the pooler is usable immediately.
PgDog's admin database shows not just pool stats but backend health and role (primary/replica) per connection, plus Prometheus metrics on port 9090 for deeper monitoring
